Continuing my nostalgic look at old work gleaned from dusty cds, I came across these two character/environment sketches for a proposed childrens tv series called Tiki Makiki. I did this work during my time at the wonderful Red Gecko studios circa 2003 in Fitzrovia, London.
Set on Easter Island the show told the story of two children and their pet parrot. The little girl – Tiki could communicate with the famous stone statues gathering age old wisdom that would help her tribe in times of need. I initially went for a chubby polynesian male sidekick but was asked to pull the look back to something more generic. I always thought that was a mistake but as it turned out it was all academic as the series was never commissioned and joined the great pitch graveyard.
"What an awesome director: not only amazing with clients, very creative and always happy to help anytime of the day. It was a pleasure working with Scott and I hope to again soon."

"The standard of animation has always been excellent. The work we have created together has run on a global stage. There have always been sequence changes to reflect local market issues, some quite complex, but Scott has always managed them well. Deadlines have never been missed in the 5 years this campaign has run. I wouldn’t hesitate one second in recommending Scott for any job. Big or small, he puts the same enthusiasm in to every commercial, even a pack change out!”
