Another late 90s example of a quaint variation on a global company’s brand. Can you imagine Shell – a massive global petroleum company with a strictly policed branding manual allowing a small promotion like this to be made nowadays. Commisioned by JWT in Auckland, New Zealand in 1998 this spot is essentially a retail promotion for Fly Buy points. We had creative license to do something enjoyable with it so, taking inspiration from the movie – “Forbidden Planet”, we created a mini sci fi epic complete with a sweeping score hinting at the corporate “You can be sure of Shell” tagline. Always fun to push it!

"The standard of animation has always been excellent. The work we have created together has run on a global stage. There have always been sequence changes to reflect local market issues, some quite complex, but Scott has always managed them well. Deadlines have never been missed in the 5 years this campaign has run. I wouldn’t hesitate one second in recommending Scott for any job. Big or small, he puts the same enthusiasm in to every commercial, even a pack change out!”
